FAQ
Nervous System + Fascia Education
What is my nervous system?
Your nervous system is the communication network between your brain and body — it reads your environment for safety or threat, then adjusts your heart rate, breathing, digestion, and muscle tension in response.
What is fascia?
Fascia is the connective tissue running through and around every muscle, organ, nerve, and bone — a continuous web that gives your body shape and lets structures glide against each other. Healthy fascia is pliable; restricted fascia is tight and stuck.
How are fascia and the nervous system connected?
Fascia is packed with nerve endings, so it's in constant dialogue with your nervous system. Tight, restricted fascia can keep sending threat signals to the brain; releasing it can send safety signals back.
What do "regulated" and "dysregulated" mean?
Regulated means your nervous system can activate when needed and settle back down after. Dysregulated means it's stuck — either in chronic high-alert or a collapsed, shut-down state.
How does the nervous system become dysregulated?
Repeated or prolonged stress — physical, emotional, or environmental — that outpaces your body's ability to recover. Over time, your baseline shifts toward dysregulation.
What does nervous system dysregulation feel like?
It shows up physically: unresolved tension, shallow breathing, disrupted sleep, digestive changes, feeling wired-but-tired or foggy and flat, and a sense of being on edge — or numb and disconnected.
How do I know if my nervous system is dysregulated?
Look for a pattern, not a single moment: tension or shutdown that recurs and doesn't fully resolve with normal rest.
How do I regulate my nervous system?
By sending your body consistent signals of safety — breathwork, targeted movement, and touch or pressure input. At Ground State, we give you tools to help regulate your nervous system and hydrate your fascia, so regulation becomes something you can actually do with your hands, not just an idea. Our companion guides (sold separately) walk through exactly how.

Are Ground State tools safe for beginners?
Yes. The tools are designed to be intuitive and low-risk with light, gradual use. If you have a diagnosed condition, hypermobility, or are recovering from injury, check with your provider before starting.
Can I use Ground State tools if I'm hypermobile or have a joint condition?
Many people with hypermobility or joint sensitivity use fascia and nervous-system tools as part of their routine, but individual needs vary. We recommend starting gently and consulting your provider or physical therapist first.

Yes — bundles are coming soon.
How do I care for my Ground State tools?
Wipe your Ground State tools clean with a damp cloth after use; avoid harsh chemicals or submerging in water unless the specific tool is labeled water-safe. Store in a dry place, away from direct heat or sunlight, to preserve the material over time.
